Provides up to a 50% grant for installing a wind energy system with peak power greater than 10 kW.  The 10 kW Bergey Excel-S  wind turbine does qualify.

You must be a customer of one of the eleven investor-owned utilities in Illinois.  Customers of municipal electric systems or rural cooperatives do not qualify because those utilities are not paying into the funding program.

Grants are awarded based upon approval of an application, which is in the form of a short proposal.  Applications can be submitted at any time.  We can assist you in completing this application.  Click here to download the rules and forms in Word format.

Grants are offered  by the Illinois Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs under the Renewable Energy Resources Program.  Funding comes from a customer surcharge under Illinois’s utility restructuring program.

Qualifying Bergey systems can be purchased from Certified Dealers, resellers, or directly from Bergey Windpower.

Bergey home wind systems have been operating in Illinois since 1982.
